Marques Chavez

Marques Chavez is a communications, public policy, government, and nonprofit professional with more than a decade of experience in Washington, D.C. crafting outreach strategies in the United States Senate, for agencies of the federal government, and in the nonprofit sector. Prior to joining Keystone, Marques was communications director for the Philanthropy Roundtable from 2013-2019. He led the external relations strategy for its array of programs – from K-12 education and economic opportunity to public policy and health care. Marques was chiefly responsible for the communications strategy for the Alliance for Charitable Reform, the policy arm of the Philanthropy Roundtable, which engaged leaders in the charitable sector to meet with policymakers and encourage them to strengthen charitable giving for all Americans.

From 2010-2013, Marques was a contractor for the Department of Defense and Department of Justice as a public affairs specialist. In that position, Marques supported the communications needs for two U.S. Army commands and a program of the FBI.

Marques began his career on Capitol Hill as deputy communications director for U.S. Senator Mike Crapo (Idaho). During that time Marques created and implemented Senator Crapo’s social media initiative and created a weekly podcast. In 2010, Marques left Capitol Hill to manage the communications strategy for Senator Crapo’s re-election campaign. Marques has a B.S. in journalism and communications, and a minor in political science from Utah State University. He has an M.A. in communication and leadership from Gonzaga University.
