What is Joint Fact Finding?

A joint fact finding allows stakeholders with different interests to uncover together information that is helpful to resolving a conflict. They identify mutually trusted, credible experts and sources of information or, in some cases, conduct new analysis to answer questions. The final outcome is a common understanding of what is known, what is still uncertain, and what needs more research to help resolve the conflict or to support good policy. In the process, the parties to a joint fact finding may also build greater trust and understanding in learning how others rely on and interpret information.

Please see Nuclear Power Joint Fact-Finding Dialogue for more information.
