In view of current social and political stresses, Keystone facilitates dialogue on a wide spectrum of questions regarding human rights and civil liberties. The context of inquiry ranges from the home and person-to-person relationships to the ethical dilemmas raised by continuing national security imperatives.
Projects include:
| Preventive Detention White Paper (2006 - present) | |
| With funding from the Smith Richardson Foundation, Keystone is coordinating the development of a white paper proposing a new U.S. policy approach to the challenge of preventive detention. The paper, with contributions by experts with contrasting views, will examine historical and current approaches to preventive detention within the United States and elsewhere, considering which approaches have been successful and why. With a goal of framing constructive dialogue going forward, the paper will propose critical elements of a policy framework to satisfy America’s evolving needs, with strategic recommendations as appropriate for a consultative, effective policy-making process. | |

| Amnesty International (2008) | |
| Keystone facilitated two advisory groups to help Amnesty International develop a new, innovative, and robust plan to grow dramatically the U.S. human rights movement, making human rights work a significant and active presence in every community across the U.S. To accomplish this, Amnesty and Keystone convened two groups of outside experts knowledgeable in social advocacy constituency-building, the social sciences, public opinion research, social marketing and branding, internet and new technologies, and media. Keystone facilitated the panels’ efforts to develop a set of innovative, testable theories and recommendations on how to grow and broaden the larger human rights movement. | |

| Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Rape Prevention and Education (RPE) (2005 - 2007) | |
| Keystone worked with key CDC RPE staff to design and deliver a series of four topically focused meetings where practitioners and experts were convened to jointly develop principles for the development of Practice Guidelines for the next five year round of funding. This was the first time the RPE program endeavored to develop practice guidelines. | |

| CDC Domestic Violence Prevention Enhancement and Leadership Through Alliances (2005 - 2007) | |
| This project focused on the elimination of intimate partner violence. CDC utilizes public health approaches to address intimate partner-domestic violence (IP-DV) from a primary prevention perspective: effectively addressing those conditions and constructs that will prevent the perpetration of such violence using evidence-based theory. Keystone designed and facilitated a series of meetings launching the agency’s Coordinated Community Response (CCR) program, the Domestic Violence Prevention Enhancement and Leadership Through Alliances (DELTA) Program. Keystone worked with CDC and statewide domestic violence coalition coordinators throughout the country to develop joint goals and a shared understanding of the program. | |
